Family Weekend 2013: Registration Closes Friday, Oct 11

Registration Closes Friday, October 11 at 5 pm (EST)!

If you are planning on coming to Family Weekend, October 18 – 20, and haven’t registered yet please be sure to do so before October 11 at 5 p.m. (EST) when the online registration site will close.   Registering for Family Weekend before you attend will ensure a smooth check-in process and will also allow you to secure your space for some of our events that fill quickly such as the welcome dinner and Sunday brunch.  You can also purchase tickets to some of the limited seating events such as comedian Aziz Ansari. To register online or to add events to your already created Family Weekend registration, visit masonfamily.gmu.edu.

As a reminder, here are a few reasons why you don’t want to miss Family Weekend 2013:

1) The Family Weekend 5K Run/Walk

Take the opportunity to work up a sweat with your student! The course will take you across Mason’s beautiful campus so come prepared to walk, run, and enjoy the scenery! We will be awarding the most spirited runner with more Mason gear, so make sure to come decked out in your green and gold!

2) Multiple Opportunities to View Student Performances

Mason students have talent and we will be showing it off during Family Weekend!  Many of the events included within the Family Weekend schedule will showcase performances by Mason’s gifted student body including the Family Weekend Welcome Dinner, Mason Unplugged, Mason Uncorked, and many more!

3) Alan and Sally Merten Family of the Year Award

We will be presenting the winner of the Alan and Sally Merten Family of the Year Award at the Welcome Dinner on October 18. The Family of the Year is chosen from written or video essays submitted by students that demonstrate why their family deserves this award. This award is a special reminder of the importance of family in our Mason community.

4) Meals Are On Us!

As part of your registration fee, many of your meals for the weekend are covered. The $45 base fee includes Friday hors d’oeuvres, Saturday morning brunch, a wine and cheese event, and Saturday dinner. There are also lots of great restaurants in the area in case you want to treat your student to a meal as well!

5) Spending Quality Time With Your Student

What better way to spend time with your student then by coming to learn more about our campus and engage in all the unique events we have to offer? Join our Mason community, meet other Mason families, and have a fun time at all of our family-friendly events created just for you!

Please note, on-site registrations will be taken during Family Weekend but certain events may not have tickets available for purchase.  Please email us atfamilies@gmu.edu or call us at 703.993.2475 with any questions.

We look forward to seeing you in a few weeks!
