Dear Mason Family Members,
The 2016-2017 academic year is in full swing! The campus is resplendent with autumn colors, and our students are immersed in their classes and communities. We just celebrated Family and Alumni Weekends, and kicked off the start of the NCAA basketball season with Mason Madness.
As we look toward the end of the semester, I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you some important resources available for you to stay connected with your Mason student.
Fundamentally, the purpose of the division of University Life is to support the success of all Mason students throughout their academic career. To accomplish this, our division strives to create purposeful opportunities and communities that foster student learning, involvement and engagement with your student’s peers, faculty, staff and administrators here at Mason. Additionally, we work to empower our students to be socially conscious and hold high standards of personal conduct. All of these efforts culminate to create a culture at Mason that promotes wellness, healthy lifestyle choices and safety.
As Mason Families, we want to ensure that you are also involved, informed and empowered to help us create this culture of safety. Information regarding safety announcements may often come from varying outlets including the Mason Alert system, Timely Warnings, the Daily Crime and Fire Log, the Environment Health and Safety News and Highlights, and email messages that are periodically sent from the Office of the President, Provost, or Vice Presidents to students. To make all of these announcements more accessible to you, we have recently created the Mason Families Safety Updates page, housed under our Family Resources. We encourage you to check back to this page periodically to stay abreast to the safety updates Mason distributes throughout the year.
As the semester comes to a close in the coming weeks, we hope that you will join University Life in our efforts to foster a culture of wellness and safety. Your role as a Mason family member is so integral to ensuring your student’s development and success here at Mason.
