Patriot Leader Team Announcement

December 11, 2018 | Filed under: Mason Family Flash

The Patriot Leader position is a highly visible role within the Mason community. These students represent the office of New Student and Family Programs through various programs such as Orientation, Family Weekend, Sibs & Kids Weekend, Welcome2Mason, and other campus programming initiatives.

The Patriot Leaders, or PLs as we like to call them, serve as role models to new students and each other by leading and assisting in the development of programs associated with our office, answering questions from new students and their family members utilizing their personal experience, and engage in direct small group discussions with groups of first year students throughout the summer. Through a thorough and extensive interview process, 39 students were selected to serve as our new, incoming students and families’ guide through their transition into Mason.

Within their role, they will go through extensive training in the spring semester and the beginning of the summer to focus on leadership and identity development, teambuilding, and Mason resource training. Throughout their experience, the PLs will also learn ways to navigate conflict and conflict management, public speaking, performing on stage, and communication skills.

Representing several different majors, states, countries, and backgrounds, we believe that the makeup of the PL team represents Mason’s strengths and embody Mason’s idea of diversity as well. Please help us congratulate the Patriot Leader Team of 2019!
