Sibs & Kids Weekend Preview

February 5, 2019 | Filed under: Mason Family Flash

Registration for Sibs & Kids Weekend, which will be held April 27-28, will open in mid-February online at masonfamilyevents.gmu.edu. From a Patriot Pride carnival, to an academic arcade, to free play at Corner Pocket, tie-dye, scavenger hunt, and a movie, #MasonSibsKids19 has something for everyone.

Mason students are invited to bring their siblings, other family members, and friends between the ages of 6-18 to campus for a weekend full of events to get a glimpse into life as a Patriot! It is free for Mason students, $25 for participants (6-18), and $15 for Mason faculty and staff members.

Check out a few highlights of Sibs & Kids Weekend below:

  1. Meals – We will welcome everyone on Saturday with a catered lunch. On Saturday night, participants will experience eating at one of the campus dining halls. Breakfast on Sunday morning. Need we say more? These meals are included in your Sibs & Kids Weekend registration!
  2. Overnight stay in residence halls – Does your Mason student live on campus? Do they have a sibling or family friend ages 13-18? In partnership with Housing and Residence Life, we invite them to stay overnight on Saturday in the residence hall with your Mason student. They also have the option to stay on Friday night after Mason Day.
  3. Games and giveaways – If your student and their sibling or family friend have a competitive side, they won’t want to miss this weekend! There will be plenty of opportunities for a friendly rivalry with a scavenger hunt, games, and recreation competitions.
  4. What do parents and adult family members do during Sibs & Kids Weekend? Sibs & Kids Weekend is Mason’s gift of relaxation to our parents and family members. This is a time for you to stay home without your kids or to visit the university. Find a local hotel and enjoy all that Northern Virginia and the D.C. area have to offer! On Sunday, we also invite you to breakfast at Ike’s for a chance to gather as a family.

Check out the George Mason Family Programs Facebook page to view last year’s Sibs & Kids Weekend photos and recap video! Visit masonfamilyevents.gmu.edu in mid-February to view the full schedule of events and to register for Sibs & Kids Weekend.
