Are you interested in getting involved at Mason by serving as an ambassador to current and prospective families? If so, consider joining the Parent and Family Council and become actively engaged in the Mason community.
The Parent and Family Council was established by Orientation and Family Programs and Services as a way to enhance the communication between the University and families, to create awareness of the need for familial input and involvement at Mason, and to foster an opportunity for families to become engaged and informed members of the University community.
The Council meets two times a year on the Fairfax campus to learn more about Mason, plan programs and events to involve parents and families in the life of the University, and contribute knowledge of the student experience to help inform practices at Mason. Council members are also required to attend at least two events throughout the year as a way to further connect to families of Mason students.
We currently have openings on the Council and will be accepting applications until November 4, 2016. For more information on the expectations of Council members as well as the application process, please click here. If you are attending Family Weekend, we will also be hosting an information session on October 15 at 11 am in the Johnson Center Gold Room for those interested.
If you are interested in speaking directly with a Parent and Family Council member about his or her experiences, please email askpafc@gmu.edu and a current member will contact you directly. You can also hear from members here about their personal experiences from serving on the Council.
If you have general questions about the Council or the application process, please don’t hesitate to contact Orientation and Family Programs and Services at families@gmu.edu or 703.993.2475 with any questions.
