Move-In Day Webinar Reminder – August 12

Freshman Move-In 2013

Next Tuesday, August 12 is our first webinar of the academic year! The webinar will focus on Move-In Day and will include tips on how to prepare for the day and what to expect when you and your student arrive on campus. Move-in can often be stressful, so take advantage of this opportunity to get more information, plan ahead, and prepare yourselves. Whether this is your first Move-In Day or your second or third, we encourage you to participate in the webinar. We want to help make your student’s move (and your day) as stress-free and exciting as possible.

The August 12 webinar will begin at 7 p.m. (EDT) To access this webinar, visit the Mason Family homepage. From the homepage, you will be directed to the webinar link. Below, you will find log in directions for both PC and Mac users. You can also view past webinars by visiting https://masonfamily.gmu.edu/webinars/.

Cooking Up Some Great Things with Mason Dining

Students eating_wp

Mason Dining continues to provide top quality culinary experiences to the community by growing and innovating alongside the University.  This year, the Fairfax campus will feature Anytime Dining and Anytime Dining Meal Plans! Mason is one of the few campuses in the nation to feature the Anytime Dining meal plan 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Anytime Dining literally means dining any time! With the new meal plans available for everyone at Mason, each student is able to enter any of our four dining hall locations at any time. There is no restriction on the number of times the students can visit each dining hall during the semester, which one student at orientation remarked is “just like my fridge at home!”

Did we mention the four dining halls? Yes! We have Southside and Pilot House which are open for late-night dining; the newly renovated Ike’s, which will be open 24 hours a day 7 days a week; and our newest dining facility, The Globe. Each dining hall features unique culinary offerings in an all-you-care-to-eat environment. This fall we will continue to host events that have been popular among students. Our events feature a variety of upscale dinners like seafood, NY strips, and prime ribs, are all made to order and are designed to please every palate. We will continue to feature our yearly Pumpkin Carving and Ginger Bread House decorating contests as well.

The meal plans also include guest meal passes for the four dining hall locations as well as bonus dollars. Bonus dollars are designed to be used at any of our 28 retail locations. Aside from our popular brands, such as Chick-fil-A, Subway, and Einstein Bros. Bagels, bonus dollars can be used at convenience stores on campus, including Express, which will be opening this fall on the Fairfax campus. Express will feature Freshens, a smoothie and rice bowl dining option. We will also be adding our second Starbucks on campus this fall!

In addition to providing food, Mason Dining provides employment to hundreds of students every semester in on-campus locations and through internships with Sodexo.  Dining also offers volunteer opportunities for students who wish to get involved with Mason Campus Kitchens, a hunger relief organization that cooks leftover food from dining halls and donates it locally.

Stay in the loop with Mason Dining! “Like” our Facebook page , follow us on Twitter, or visit the Mason Dining website.
