The Welcome Dinner is one of our most popular events during Family Weekend and serves as the official kick-off celebration! Highlights of the Welcome Dinner include:
- Student performances: Each year we invite a variety of student groups to show off their talents and provide entertainment for the Welcome Dinner. Last year’s performers included an a cappella group, salsa dancers, and a student band.
- Meeting other Mason families: The Welcome Dinner is a great opportunity to enjoy a meal with your family while mingling with other Mason families who share your same experiences.
- The Alan and Sally Merten Family of the Year Award: Each year we present the Family of the Year award during the Welcome Dinner. The Alan and Sally Merten Family of the Year Award was created to recognize the importance of families and the support they provide to their students while at Mason. Encourage your student to nominate your family for this exciting award!
The Welcome Dinner has become one of the most anticipated events of Family Weekend, and we can’t wait to celebrate it with you. Be sure to reserve your ticket for this special event at masonfamily.gmu.edu prior to registration closing on Sunday, October 2.
