Student Involvement in the Spring Semester

January 24, 2017 | Filed under: Uncategorized

The beginning of a new semester at Mason brings on a new opportunity for students to get involved. With over 350 registered student organizations, countless intramural sports teams, and a multitude of service opportunities, there is a way for each and every Patriot to get involved and leave their legacy at Mason. To help you encourage your student to be involved in the new semester, we have highlighted a few opportunities taking place in the next few weeks.

Registered Student Organizations Fair
February 1, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Johnson Center, Dewberry Hall

The Registered Student Organizations Winter Fair will present over eighty on-campus student organizations providing information to students who may want to get involved. Members of each organization will be on site to answer questions and encourage students to join their organization. The fair will also include creative performances and a T-shirt swap where students can swap a non-Mason shirt for a free Mason shirt!

Intramural Sports Registration
January 18- February 1

Students can join Mason Recreation on the court for intramural basketball and team handball. Registration opened January 18 and is free to all full-time students. Men’s, women’s and co-rec leagues are offered. Co-rec leagues provide a great way to play sports in a social environment where students can make connections with their peers. More information can be found on the Mason Recreation site.

Mason Gives Back

Mason Gives Back offers countless opportunities for students to get involved in service learning by participating in projects like blood drives, clean up projects, philanthropic projects, food packing events and more. January 27 is Mason’s MLK Day of Service, which hosts on- and off-campus events to involve students in service opportunities. More information about the projects and links to register can be found here.

All of these events provide great opportunities for your student to be involved in the spring semester. For more information about student organizations and involvement opportunities, students are encouraged to visit getconnected.gmu.edu.
