Supporting Your Student During Final Exams

finalexamswp

Final exams for the fall semester will begin on December 13 and conclude on December 20. As this time can be stressful for many students, we wanted to offer a few ways that you can help them be successful and finish the semester strong.

Care Packages
Show your student some extra love during this stressful time of year with a Cram Session care package from Campus Survival Kits! This special package includes an energy shot and various school supplies in addition to the usual handpicked selection of snacks designed to satisfy every appetite. Campus Survival Kits also offers subscription plans that will automatically deliver a Mason-themed box to your student each month. Visit campussurvivalkits.com/mason for more information.

Study Locations
Many students are spending long hours studying and writing papers during this hectic time of year.  Encourage your student to utilize the extended hours of the libraries and Johnson Center as safe study spaces on campus.  Students can also reserve group study rooms in the libraries as well as the Johnson Center by clicking here.  If your student lives off campus, encourage him or her to visit the 24-hour Off-Campus Finals Study Lounge located in George’s Restaurant, located on the top floor of the Johnson Center December 14-16.

De-Stress Fest
Every year the Office of Student Involvement hosts a week of events to help students de-stress before finals.  This year, De-Stress Fest will take place December 5-9.  Visit si.gmu.edu for more information on the week’s events and encourage your student to attend for several opportunities for free refreshments, exam kits, and fun ways to relax before exams.

Although this time of year can be stressful, the conclusion of the semester means your students will soon be able to enjoy the winter break. For a full list of resources available to students during final exams and throughout the year, please send them here.
