Traveling all over the world with fellow Patriots can be both memorable and life changing!
George Mason’s Global Education Office (GEO) provides Mason Cultural Tour Programs for Mason families, friends, alumni and students as well as traditional study abroad programs! These cultural tour programs are offered throughout the year at reasonable group rates and provide travel opportunities with a “light learning” component. Each tour provides a Mason staff member who makes sure participants’ experiences are carefree and enjoyable.
This fall, a tour of “The Flavors of Southern France and Italy” will be offered from October 7-16. Seats are limited, but still available!
In 2018, numerous cultural tour programs will be offered in January and March. These programs will include “Two Sparkling Cities, Sicily and Malta”, and also “Germany & Austria: Castles and Cars” with a unique look at the successful auto industry and its history.
These programs and others are open to the entire Mason community, including Mason family members. Applications are accepted online. For more information, contact Rita Rowand at [email protected] or visit the Global Education Office’s website.

Family Weekend events are designed to give your family a glimpse into your student’s life at Mason, including events both on and off campus. To give you a taste of the unique experiences that Mason’s close proximity to Washington, D.C., and other area attractions afford students, we have organized a number of bus tours to various area attractions. Whether your family is interested in visiting the National Mall; learning more about the home of our namesake, George Mason; or enjoying a hike outdoors, there is something for everyone!
D.C. Bus Tour
The Washington, D.C. bus tour is a must for those interested in sightseeing and learning more about the nation’s capital. The tour will take participants all around the monuments and special landmarks of D.C. and will make one stop where participants can hop off the bus and explore the monuments by foot.
Gunston Hall
Gunston Hall is the home of our namesake, George Mason. Located in Lorton, Virginia, participants will receive a guided tour of the mansion with outbuildings, 550 acres of grounds, and hiking trails.
Great Falls
Great Falls is one of Northern Virginia’s most popular hiking destinations. With over 800 acres of land just 15 miles from the Nation’s Capital, the park is filled with rich history and beautiful landscapes. Families will enjoy a short hike guided by staff and students from Mason Outdoor Adventures.
If you are interested in attending one of our three bus trips, make sure to register your family early as these tours tend to fill up quickly! For more information about the Family Weekend schedule of events and to register your family, visit masonfamilyevents.gmu.edu.

We know that navigating the financial system and managing payments at Mason can appear complicated. To help streamline the process, we want to share the following information and resources regarding billing and payments.
Authorized Users
Your student can set you as an authorized user in the bill and payment system which will help you stay up-to-date on financial information and payment deadlines. It is important to note that authorized users will receive e-Bill notices and be able to access student accounts, but are not able to view academic information.
Bills and Financial Aid
Semester e-Bills are sent electronically to students and authorized users. The invoice lists charges on the left side; payments, financial aid, and future expected financial aid are on the right side, and also includes the overall balance. The amount due will reflect the balance as of the date the bill is generated. Many students make schedule adjustments and add meal plans or housing, which can often cause the balance to change. It is best to verify the current balance with your student before making a payment, which is available via the bill and payment system.
Due Date
The due date is always the first day of each semester. Submitting your payment through the online bill and payment system is recommended. For the fall 2017 semester, the tuition and fee due date is Monday, August 28 at 10:30 p.m. if you are using the bill and payment system. If you are paying in person at the Cashier’s Office on the Fairfax campus, the deadline is 4:30 p.m. on Monday, August 28.
Payments Online
Online electronic check payments can be made without an additional charge. Mason accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express credit and debit cards online only, with a 2.75% convenience fee. The convenience fee offsets bank processing costs and is nonrefundable.
Payments in Person
The Cashier’s Office (located in Student Union Building I, Suite 1501) only accepts cash and check payments. A drop box is available at the Cashier’s Office for check payments only, and your student’s G # must be included on the check.
Payments by Mail
Please mail check payments to:
George Mason University
Cashier’s Office, MSN 2E1
4400 University Drive
Fairfax, VA 22030
*Please be sure to include the student’s G# and allow sufficient time for mailing; generally 7-10 days.
More detailed instructions are listed on the Student Accounts website, which is located at studentaccounts.gmu.edu. In addition to our online resources, you and your student can always contact our office at 703-993-2484 or email [email protected] with any questions.
