Welcome2Mason events continue this week with lots of Mason traditions and opportunities to get involved! At Mason, there are more than 350 registered student organizations, countless intramural sports teams, and a multitude of service opportunities. Encourage your student to attend one of these upcoming events or programs.
Part Time Job Fair
Wednesday, August 28 | 11:00am – 2:00pm
Johnson Center, Dewberry
The part time Job Fair, hosted by University Career Services will allow students seeking employment to connect with on-campus employers and other local businesses looking to hire Mason students. Employers will also have the ability to schedule interviews with students at the fair. All interested students are welcome to attend. Please note that business casual dress is strongly encouraged for all students.
Rockin’ With Rec
Wednesday, August 28 | 5 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
The RAC
This event is a MUST for all Mason students – it is one big student centered party at the RAC to learn ALL of the different ways to get involved, have fun and stay active on campus! There will be food, fun, games and prizes at this event, with a little something for everyone to enjoy including a Rockwall, a S’mores station, games, and more! Looking to join a Club Sport? They’ll be tabling and ready to answer questions! Want to try a Group Exercise class? Recreation will also be hosting 30 min demos throughout the event! The facility will also be open for use so stop by to play some basketball, tennis, volleyball, lawn games like 9 square, giant pong, giant jenga, corn hole, and more!
Staycation Weekend
August 29 – September 2
Students are encouraged to stay on campus for Labor Day Weekend and attend the various events planned on campus. With free t-shirts at IVth Night, $12 Nats tickets, a free comedy show and more, there is sure to be something for everyone!

This is Mason’s largest involvement fair! More than 300 student organizations, clubs, departments, and community partners will provide information to students interested in getting involved.
9/11 Day of Service
Wednesday, September 11th | 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The Hub, Ballroom
Each September, the university community marks the Mason Nation 9/11 Day of Service by participating in an array of opportunities to pay tribute to 9/11 victims, honor those who stepped up and sacrificed afterward, and to remember those who have suffered in related conflicts and violence. Our students, faculty, and staff collaborate with community members on dozens of service projects. Students can sign up as a volunteer for a number of service projects by visiting 911day.gmu.edu/service-projects.
2019 Service Fair
Thursday, September 12th | 11 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
SUB I Quad
During this event, new students and the rest of the Mason community will be able to connect with more than 45 different community partners and leaders, discover various service opportunities, and learn more about the issues facing our diverse local communities. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about various community organizations and the volunteer opportunities they may offer.
