Mason Families

Virtual Family Weekend coming soon!

In following with Mason’s Safe Return to Campus plan, we have made the tough decision to host a Virtual Family Weekend series with events that will span from mid-October to mid-November. Although we are unable to provide our traditional, in-person events, we are committed to helping you make your own Family Weekend experience!

To help with the creation of your customized Family Weekend experience, we are creating digital activity guides to help you engage with your family whether you are out of the area in your hometown, in Northern Virginia, Washington D.C., or visiting your student on Mason’s Fairfax campus. These guides include local activities good for social distancing, dining, and shopping options that will keep your family entertained throughout the fall season. We are also offering live events that you can participate in from the comfort of your home. Whether you’re in Virginia, California, Texas, Alaska, or international, you can be a part of our Virtual Family Weekend!

Some of our live events include Evening Under the Stars hosted by the Department of Physics and Astronomy; a Faculty Spotlight with Dr. Mary Ellen O’Toole, Professor and Director of the Forensic Science program; and a cooking class in partnership with Mason Dining. We are working to confirm more live events and will announce the details, dates, and times soon on MasonFamilyEvents.gmu.edu. We look forward to seeing and celebrating with your Mason family during this year’s Virtual Family Weekend!

If you have any questions regarding our Virtual Family Weekend, please contact New Student and Family Programs at families@gmu.edu or (703) 993-2475.
