Mason Families

Introducing our graduate summer interns!

This summer, we have three graduate interns from the University of Georgia, Texas A&M University, and Grand Valley State University. They will be assisting in the implementation and execution of orientation and other New Student and Family Programs projects. Please join us in welcoming Nic, Candace, and Kelly into the Mason family!

Nic, a Macon, Ga. native, is one of our Graduate Interns within New Student and Family Programs this summer. Nic graduated from Georgia Tech (‘18) with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-Information Technology Management and a minor in Leadership Studies. During his undergraduate career, he served as an Orientation Leader and on the Executive Cabinet of the program, where he realized helping develop new students and student leaders were his passions. That guided Nic down the path to pursue a degree in student affairs. Nic is currently a Graduate Assistant for New Student Orientation at the University of Georgia, where he is also a first-year masters student studying College Student Affairs Administration. He hopes to work with new students and their families through orientation programs after grad school. In his free time, Nic likes to listen to music, travel, read, and watch the latest reality TV show hit. Nic is very excited to have a new experience at George Mason this summer in working with orientation!

Candace earned her B.A. in History with a minor in Leadership Studies from Baylor University. At Baylor, Candace worked for Campus Living & Learning, served as a student leader in the Honors College, and served as a student lobbyist on behalf of the university. Candace is a first year graduate student in the Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education (SAAHE) program at Texas A&M University. She works in Student Activities as the Graduate Assistant for Extended Orientation. In this role, Candace advises Aggie Transition Camps (ATC), an extended orientation program for transfer and nontraditional students, and creates leadership curriculum for the student leaders of ATC and Fish Camp. When she is not working or studying, Candace enjoys watching Marvel movies, listening to Taylor Swift, baking, and exploring new places. Candace is so excited to help welcome the newest Patriots to Mason Nation this summer!

Kelly graduated with her B.S. in Public Relations from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill. At Bradley, Kelly worked as a Student Involvement Intern, Orientation Leader, and an Academic Success Coach. Currently, Kelly is a first-year graduate student at Grand Valley State University where she works as the Graduate Assistant for Programming in the Office of Student Life. In her current role, she advises the Campus Activities Board (CAB), a group that plans concerts, Homecoming, Family Weekend, and other on-campus events. In her free time, Kelly enjoys going to concerts, the movies, and doing puzzles. Kelly is excited to work with New Student and Family Programs this summer to welcome new students and families to the George Mason community!
