Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”), 20 U.S.C. §1681 et seq., is a Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex—including pregnancy and parental status—in educational programs and activities. All public and private schools, school districts, colleges, and universities receiving any Federal funds (“schools”) must comply with Title IX.

Contact Disability Services to discuss possible accommodations (e.g., classroom furniture, location to retake exam) if you need assistance with a pregnancy-related condition. If your pregnancy and delivery are relatively healthy, normal, and uncomplicated and you have additional concerns, it is recommended that you speak with your professor to make appropriate arrangements.

George Mason University provides on-campus housing, as available, for undergraduate and graduate students on the Fairfax campus (undergraduate) and Science and Technology campus (graduate). However, the university does not provide family housing; only Mason students may reside in the residence halls.
Off-campus housing options for parenting students are available on the Off-Campus Housing website at och.gmu.edu. All properties are privately owned and not affiliated with or endorsed by Mason. Many graduate students choose to live in Masonvale, a privately owned and operated neighborhood adjacent to the Fairfax campus.
Mason’s Off-Campus Student Services office is available to help students locate, secure, and plan for off-campus living. Off-Campus Advisors and professional staff can help students make the most of their off-campus living experience, including providing resources for parking, transportation, dining, and involvement.
